About us

We are a multi-disciplinary team of more than 50 scientists and practitioners from the CGIAR Research Program on Roots, Tubers and Bananas (RTB) and five international agricultural research organizations: International Potato Center (CIP), International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, University of Florida (UF), and Wageningen University & Research (WUR).

Our group includes experts in agricultural technology development, plant breeding, anthropology, economics, gender analysis, entomology, and plant pathology.

We started working on the toolbox in December 2012 by designing and developing the tools, often as part of PhD research. The tools were usually validated in collaboration with national agricultural research institutes, universities, and regulatory agencies in East Africa (Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda), Southern Africa (Mozambique), West Africa (Nigeria), South East Asia (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Vietnam), South Asia (India), Central Asia (Georgia), and Latin America (Colombia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Peru).

Welcome to the RTB Toolbox website — a place to share all our approaches, methods, results, and experiences with you! We hope that you will find them useful in your own work and we welcome feedback through individual contacts and our Support and Contact page. To get started, we suggest taking a look at the Key Concepts page, or jumping right in with the User Guide to the Toolbox for a step-by-step approach to making it work for you.

Best regards,

The RTB Toolbox Team
