Distinct, uniform, stable: criteria for protecting plant varieties. “The breeder’s right means that the authorization of the breeder is required to propagate the variety for commercial purposes. Under the UPOV Convention, the breeder’s right is only granted where the variety is (i) new, (ii) distinct, (iii) uniform, (iv) stable and has a suitable denomination.”
